How to Think Faster and Multitask Better

If you want to upgrade your brain like Eddie Morra from Limitless, then, unfortunately, you won’t find it to be as easy as taking a single pill. Instead, you’re going to have to look at more arduous and lengthy strategies, including such things as brain training or improving your overall health.

If you choose to go the brain-training route though, there is one especially effective and ‘easy’ method that you may find helps you to see the kinds of results you’re looking for. That method is to focus your training on working memory. But what does that actually mean?

"Wisdom is more active than motion itself.

She pervades and permeates everything by her purity.

For she is a breath of God's power,

a pure revelation of the glory of Almighty.

Therefore, nothing that is defiled can reach her.

For she is a reflection of eternal light,

the spotless mirror of God's power,

and the image of his goodness."

Wisdom 7:24-26, NLT.

What is Working Memory?

The traditional view of memory split out the capacity for storing information into three separate categories. Those were:

(I) Working memory,

(ii) Short-term memory, and

(iii) Long-term memory.

Short-term memory was described as containing all the information that you remember for a while, but that would ultimately be ‘sent to trash’. This includes such things as people’s names, or what you had for breakfast. Long-term memory meanwhile includes all that information that you will remember indefinitely: e.g. Scripture verses, the names of your friends, the night you proposed, how to tell the time, the alphabetical letters, etc.

Working memory, on the other hand, is based on this description: it is effectively your brain’s equivalent of computer's RAM (Random-Access Memory). This is where information would be stored that would only be required for a very short amount of time. The most popular example is the phone number that you are going to write down.

In turn, the working memory – based on the traditional view – could be broken down into a ‘visuospatial scratchpad’ where we would visualize things and a ‘phonological loop’ where we would repeat things to ourselves in a bid to not forget them.

Today though, psychologists are recognizing that working memory has much more in-common with visualization in general. This is our ability to internalize information, whether that’s memory, imagination, or something else.

In short, this is our ability to create a representation of the world whether for predictive purposes or something else. In conversation, this means keeping track of what’s been said and what’s next. In sports, it means knowing where everyone is on the pitch. When working, it’s what allows us to multitask and switch between different things. This is nothing short of crucial for your ability to work quickly and effectively.

And if you use your minds more effectively like having the tendency to reflect first before you do anything, then I can assure you that you'll have fewer or no regrets at all in your life. But effective reflection requires your mind to have the knowledge of the truth and insight into how things work on the grand scale. This is a tall order but also achievable.

How To Train Your Working Memory

The good news is that there is a proven method among other available methods for increasing working memory and that is to train using something called the N-Back Test. Use this and you can gradually improve your ability to hold information in your mind and do multitasking with incredible results. Watch the following video to start training while entertaining your brain.

The N-Back Test Method

The N-Back Test, in summary, attempts to measure the continuous performance of the individual's working memory and its capacity.

Researchers have found that the brain can be trained and exercised for optimal performance just like any other body part like body muscles. As mentioned earlier, the test called the N-Back Test can be used to achieve that purpose. This Test was introduced for the first time by Wayne Kirchner in 1958, published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology.

Researchers have also found that the test can significantly improve personal IQ, especially fluid intelligence. But researchers all around the world are still working to reach a consensus that the results of the basic test could be applied to anyone with consistent results. The test needs more studies.

Then came the N-Dual Back Test. This is the variation of the basic test which was proposed by researchers led by Dr. Sussanne Jaeggi, et al. This test has shown some consistent results and can be applied with confidence. These research paper findings were published in 2003 in the peer-reviewed scientific journal - NeuroImage.

This is how it works in this test: Two independent stimuli are presented simultaneously and the test subject is required to indicate whether the stimuli match with those in n-number of steps from the sequence presented earlier.

To get a brief look at how it works, please watch the following video, courtesy of Johns Hopkins University.

How Increased Confidence Can Help You Get Your Wants

This might sound like the cheesy-kind of advice your parents might have given you, but it really is true that confidence can get you pretty much whatever you want. That and being yourself.

If you want to get a date, succeed in your career, competing for a trophy, or otherwise take any aspect of your life to the next level, then boosting your confidence is one of the best ways to accomplish that.

Here’s why…

It's hard to disagree with the following motto: "Audentes Fortuna Juvat" - it's a Latin proverb translated in English as: "Fortune Favors the Bold." Confident people tend to be bold and by doing so, they put themselves in the position of winning.

"The wicked run away when no-one is chasing them,

but the godly are as bold as lions."

Proverbs 28:1, NLT.

What Confidence Really Means

If you have ever met an alpha male or a woman who just seems to have everything under control, then you might have noticed that they are usually very confident. The truth is that the whole reason they appear so successful is that confidence. That’s because confidence sends a powerful signal – it says ‘I consider myself to be a catch’ or "I can compete and win - and win like a true champion".

Speaking in evolutionary terms, confidence suggests that you are a good potential mate or a superior competitor. Even if someone is short, poorly dressed, and unappealing – if they are supremely confident then it will seem as though they know something you don’t. The assumption is that they must have a reason to be that confident. Mark Twain once said, "It's not the size of the dog in the fight that matters, but the size of the fight in the dog!".

And thus we instantly assume that this person is somehow our superior: that we should try to impress them or try to be more like them. That’s why we gravitate toward confident people, want to date them, and want to be liked by them.

A lot of people don’t realize the importance of confidence and they think it is enough to be nice. They assume that by acting nicely, they will get people to like them and they can that way overcome their looks, their stature, or their status.

But if you don’t have any self-confidence and you act very nice, then this can actually backfire: it starts to seem as though you want something and that you are being a creep in order to get it.

Conversely, if you act a little less needy if you can show yourself to be highly capable and impressive and then you chat with someone in a friendly and open manner… then people will be won over by your charm and your appeal. This niceness seems much more genuine because you appear like you don’t need help from everyone.

So to all guys out there: stop trying to win the girl by being nice. Work-out to fix your inferiority and the rest will take care of itself.

Employees out there, stop trying to get the job by being self-deprecating. Possess the razor-sharp skills relevant to your field and the rest will take care of itself.

To all students out there, stop cheating and use your intelligence to do your homework and the rest will take care of itself.

Act like you know your worth and then layer niceness on top of that. That is the winning combination or formula to success.

"How terrible it will be for the fearful and cowardly,

and for the sinner who leads a double life!

How terrible it will be for the faint-hearted who have no trust,

for they will not be protected!

How terrible it will be for you who have lost your nerve!

What will you do when the Lord brings about justice?"

Sirach 2:12-14, NLT.

Four Tings That Can Make Your Life More Meaningful

When we spend our lives merely surviving, life can start to seem a little empty and pointless. Nevertheless, this is exactly how many of us live: we work for eight hours or more a day and then we come home feeling too tired and exhausted to do much of anything with our time. So, we sit and watch TV.

The same thing repeats and repeats and the most excitement we have is a holiday once a year to look forward to. Is that really living? That's flavorless life and in essence, it tastes like a slice of roasted meat without salt. We have to add some seasoning to make it more delicious.

Here are four simple changes that can make your life more meaningful:

1. Learning

Constantly learning is a great way to give life more meaning and direction. Ultimately, one of the things that the brain craves most is growth. If it isn’t challenged to learn and grow, then it will shrink and we will become set in our ways. In one way or another at a certain point in your life, you'll be required to act prudently in order to get ahead of others in your life. And prudence comes with a commitment to life-long learning.

Make it your job to constantly be learning new skills and pursuits. That can be related to your career, a hobby, or even a new language! Albert Einstein, who is generally recognized as a genius, was quoted as saying: "Once you stop learning, you start dying".

And Scripture speaks:

" If you stop listening to instruction,

My child,

You'll turn your back on knowledge"

Proverbs 19:27, NLT.

2. Relationships

Likewise, relationships are one of the things that we really need to be happy. If you don’t have meaningful relationships, then you’ll have no one to share wit: your pains, your joys, your experiences, your challenges, and your triumphs.

A truly ‘meaningful’ relationship goes beyond friends of friends that you only ever meet in a group. This is someone that you can have a deep heart-to-heart with and who has a long and storied history with you.

The true relationship is honoring the commitment you made to your life-long companion that you'll stay by his/her side no matter what or until death does you apart. You'll need a dose of combination between discipline and self-control to be truly faithful to your life's partner.

"Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken."

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, NLT.

3. Challenge

What’s also necessary for life to feel meaningful is a challenge and to some extent, risk. And above it, you must possess the courage to face any life's adversity that comes in your way. But if you walk wisely, nothing will stand on your way.

Have you ever been in a situation that was truly life and death? Or perhaps that put you in a situation where you were close to accomplishing something truly amazing?

These are the moments that the brain focusses and engages with the world. These are the moments when we learn and when we realize the worth of what we have. It puts things in perspective and creates stories. Don’t shy away from the things that test you!

"Dear brothers and sisters when trouble of any kind comes your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you'll be perfect and complete, needing nothing."

James 1:2-4, NLT.

4. Travel

Finally, everyone should seek to have some travel in their lives. This doesn’t mean you have to backpack across the dessert – but simply being able to experience new sights and new people is important to keep your mind open and your experiences varied. If you don’t have the budget to go away, then come up with an adventure you can enjoy a little closer to home.

You can also travel in the world of genre fiction produced by talented novelists and enjoy the endless imaginations of what could possibly happen in the universe under their given circumstances. You'll learn a lot of moral lessons and execution of justice along the journey.

But of course, be warned!

"Don't go on a journey with irresponsible people, for their mischief will become your burden. They'll do what they wish and you'll be ruined by their foolishness."

Sirach 8:15, NLT.

And always remember:

"Seek the Kingdom of God above all else,

and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need"

Matthew 6:33, NLT.

If you follow this advice religiously, hopefully, you'll start to see your life becomes more meaningful!

5 Essential Tips or Secrets on How To be Truly Happy

Do you ever feel caught up in all the mundane things of life while happiness seems to elude you?

Do you feel like life is just passing you by?

Are you confined in the lockdown that brings to you a lot of frustrations and anxiety?

Do you sometimes feel that you are doing so much but that you are not truly happy?

Life is too short to postpone happiness until the conditions are right.

So if we are waiting for something in our world to be just right before we become happy, then we are keeping ourselves in an endless cycle of waiting!

Everywhere around, people are trying desperately to find their happiness in things like - fame, relationships, expensive cars, mansions, overseas holidays, a ton of money, political power, the perfect place or the perfect job – and yet after they have experienced some or all of the above, they are still not happy.

Happiness is the special ingredient that makes everything else in life worthwhile.

And if happiness is missing, then even a life full of wealth and health is not meaningful.

"For the Scriptures say,
'If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies'"
1 Peter 3:10, NLT.

So how can one become truly happy?

What are the essentials of happiness?

Let me guide you to the 5 essential tips or secrets that will create real happiness for you.

SECRET NO: 1 – START YOUR DAY WITH GRATITUDE AND PRAYER

All of us have so much to be grateful for; it’s just that most times, we don’t realize it.

Gratitude helps to cultivate a positive mindset, which will help you to accept yourself for who you really are.

Remember, as your day begins, you don’t know what the day will bring to you, but you can decide what you will bring to this day!

So choose to bring a grateful and happy ‘you’ to your day and see the benefits happen.

Start your day with a prayer of thanks while at the same time maintains a positive attitude and a positive mindset for whatever you'll face.

Spend 3 minutes before you get active in the morning reminding yourself what is great in your life. By this, I mean that you should take some time each morning to count your daily blessings. Then you can offer a prayer of thanks not of request. When you're in the situation of need you can try first to pray along these lines in the prayer for wisdom, and then go on to other specific needs for you at other times. Believe in God's providence.

Start your day on a positive note, because a spiritual law is that whatever is inside you is what comes out of you.

So if you create happiness inside by being grateful, you will ooze happiness all day, which in turn will make your day a happy one!

SECRET NO: 2 – DURING THE DAY, DON'T FLINCH IN THE FACE OF ADVERSITY

As your day begins to unfold, many types of things, results, and people will be encountered.

No matter what comes your way, choosing to be positive will help you to stay strong within the challenge and handle it in a peaceful and powerful manner. Don't give in to fear.

Resolve to go in the right direction no matter what comes in your way in any day. Please, don't flinch in the face of adversity.

Even when things are difficult, try being positive and strive to make the best of whatever situation you’re in.

It will help make even the most challenging situations easier to bear.

So as you live your life during the day, look for the positive, not for the negative.

Often, during the day, repeat positive affirmations about what you want.

Do so with faith, feelings, intention, and focus.

Your mind is the filter for this world around you, so look for the good in every situation, and you are sure to see it.

“And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?
Is anything worth more than your soul?"
Matthew 16:26 NLT.

SECRET NO: 3 – JUST FOR TODAY, ACCEPT IMPERFECTION BUT ALWAYS STRIVES FOR PERFECTION

It’s a fact that we all have imperfections.

When we stop worrying about our imperfections and what others think about us and just start being what we are, then we can truly offer the world the best we have.

For as long as we are living a life of pretense, we are sure to be tense, and real happiness will elude us.

Moreover, you can’t expect people to be perfect all the time.

Perfection comes when you’re okay with imperfection.

Our ideas about the way the world works are based, in part, upon our expectations.

Those expectations color our experience, good or bad, and influence our reactions and responses to just about everything and everyone that we encounter.

Expectations help us form a world view, but they can also skew that world view in unexpected and sometimes unwanted ways.

The more the expectations, the more the disappointment.

Being a perfectionist at all the time will not make you happy, I promise. You must be realistic.

So ease up a little bit, check the expectations you carry and lower them if necessary, and see how much more you can enjoy life.

You will be happily surprised.

SECRET NO: 4 - DON'T HOLD GRUDGE BUT EITHER SETTLE THE ARGUMENT OR FORGIVE!

Keep your mind light. Don't hold grudges instead, forgives. Otherwise, follow the path of justice to settle the argument.

Love your enemy.  In fact, hanging on to resentment, someone once said, is like drinking poison and hoping it will kill someone else.

Carry the good experiences with you, and the lessons from the bad experiences.

Both will help you and make you a better person.

But carrying negative memories will only take your happiness away.

The best short-cut to happiness is the meditation of revealed truth, which teaches you to train your mind to be calm and happy.

“I don't mean to say that I've already achieved these things or that I've reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No dear brothers and sisters, I've not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God through Christ Jesus is calling us."
Philippians 3:12-14 NLT.

SECRET NO: 5 – SHOW LOVE TODAY, YOU MIGHT NOT GET THAT CHANCE AGAIN

So many people keep themselves constantly busy but spend their whole life waiting to start living.

And in the meantime, this beautiful gift from life called 'today' is passing-by forever!

Give your attention to the value of today. This day is your life, and you are alive only today!

So value it, cherish it and live it fully while it is here. Because it’s soon going to be gone forever.

Who would have foreseen precisely the effect of Coronavirus (COVID-19) - the global pandemic, on international lockdown, and the stressing of social distancing?

Think and take action in your life on the problems you face, if any.

Any action is better than burying your head in the sand, hiding from the world, and more importantly yourself.

But at the same time, don’t let your pains and problems define your experience; you also have a lot of blessings in your life, so let that be the flavor of the day!

"You're the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor?
Can you make it salty again? It'll be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.

You're the light of the world - like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket.
Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives lights to everyone in the house.

In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father."
Matthew 5:13-16, NLT.

Quit waiting for life to work out. Instead, fan into flame the spiritual gift that is in you.

Make a change and take control.

You control your own happiness; don’t waste any more time waiting for it to come to find you.

So embrace humanity and show some love in your life today. Bring some happiness, understanding, and gratitude to your life today!

There is always a lot in life to be happy and grateful for.

Start living in the only moment that matters, right now.

The more you are focused on the past or the future, the more you are missing out on happiness right now.

Pay attention to this day and make yourself truly happy, no matter what!

A fun and life of fullness await you - maximize your potential by being truly happy.

How To Stay Calm In The Storm ...

The storm is all around us. The Coronavirus COVID-19 disease which was declared a global pandemic by WHO  has an alarming fatality rate and it instills fear and panic in our daily lives. It sends us to an unchartered territory where the condition is more conducive to storms eruptions. Once free and democratic nations are now locked down. Stock-markets plunge, economies around the world go into a tail-spin, and thousands lose their jobs and their livelihood.

Relationships break up under the stress, divorce rates shoot up, deadly diseases breakout, and millions across the world slide into debt and poverty for many years to come.

News of doom and gloom is the flavor of the day, in fact, every single day.

Everywhere you look, un-certainty, fear, and in-stability reigns.

How do we handle this storm that has come upon us? How do we stay centered even as the world shakes?

How do we swim while others are sinking and fret?

Here are 8 focused qualities that are powerful solutions to a time of crisis, guaranteed to keep you calm in the storm of life.

1. Have A Willingness To Make And Follow Hard Choices

Crisis forces you to take a realistic look at the bigger picture of your life and make some hard choices to move forward.

Be willing to do this rather than resist it.

Make difficult choices if you need to and demonstrate a whatever-it-takes attitude.

Remember, it takes less energy to get an unpleasant task done “right now” than to worry about it all day.

2. Have A Personal Vision

Having a personal goal of getting out of the crisis, as it will become the light that guides you forward.

A goal will motivate you and make it easier to take corrective measures while having no goal will just make you drift and lose direction through the crisis. Goals give you power.

Choose not to waste your precious present life on guilt about the past or concern for the future.

3. Set A Clear Strategy

To reach the goal, plan a clear strategy, and communicate it to others who are a part of it.

Plan your journey forward and walk the plan. It is a truth that if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

Simplify your life!

Start eliminating trivial things. Also don't major in minor things.

Eliminate unnecessary commitments.

4. Be Persistent

Probably the key quality to coming out of the crisis is persistence - a determined mind that just never gives up no matter what.

Once your mind is set, stick to your target with Crab-like persistence, changing only if a better way shows itself.

Practice consciously doing one thing at a time, keeping your mind focused on the present.

5. Capitalize On Opportunity

There are good even in the worst of times. Every cloud has a silver lining.

Identify this by looking deeply at how you can benefit in the long term from the current crisis.

Be quick to spot an opportunity and to seize it to your advantage and make sure it benefits society in order for the opportunity to stay evergreen for a long period of time.

Warren Buffet, the world's best-performing investor, is famously known for making his greatest and largest purchases at a time of crisis when everyone else is selling.

Welcome change as an opportunity and challenge yourself to learn and grow.

6. Be Patient

Be willing to wait for the reward of your efforts.

Believe that the strong man is a patient man.

A crisis has little flexibility for the impatient or the irritable.

Take time to be alone on a regular basis, to listen to your heart, check your intentions; re-evaluate your goals and your activities.

And If you are self-isolated as a measure to combat the deadly Coronavirus outbreak, then make that time productive by following the above advice. Alternatively, you can also learn online the wisdom of - How To Achieve Maximum Result In Minimum Time - Please click here to check it out.

If your schedule is busy, prioritize your activities and do the most important ones first.

7. Follow Your Vision With Constant And Constructive Action

Take positive and persistent action on a regular basis.

Even if the results are not fast to come, trudge on ahead towards your goal.

Take baby steps if you have to, but whatever you do, make sure you are moving ahead all the time.

The direction you are going in is more important, not the speed. Plan to do something each day that takes you one step forward.

8. Stay Optimistic No Matter What

Scripture speaks:

"The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again ..."
Proverbs 24:16, NLT

The night is darkest before the dawn breaks.

Believe that even this shall pass away.

The sun shines even when the clouds cover it.

The dark night leads to sun-rise and the day will end in darkness.

Be aware of the larger movements and rhythms of life and stay optimistic even as you go through this time of chaos and crisis.

You are bigger than it, and this is not the end of your life; it is just a comma in the sentence of your life, not the full stop.

Having a positive mindset is the greatest asset you can have in a time of inner or outer crisis.

A fun and life of fullness await you - maximize your potential by weathering the storm.
